Privacy policy
Last updated 1 October 2026
Shapewise analyses videos of your movement and gives you feedback on your technique. This policy explains what we collect to do that, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. The short version: your videos are deleted right after the analysis, we keep only what you need to follow your progress, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
Shapewise is run by Oscar Pedersen, the data controller for the app and this website. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
Your account
- Guest account. When you open the app we create an anonymous account so you can try it without signing up.
- Email address. If you sign in, we use your email to send you a one-time code. There are no passwords. Signing in is required to buy Shapewise Pro.
Your videos and results
- Videos you record or pick from your library, without sound, together with the sport, movement, length and camera angle you chose.
- Pose data: the positions of 33 points on your body in each frame, found by our analysis server.
- Key frames: a few still images from your video, cropped around you, that show the important moments.
- Results: scores, measurements, findings and the drills we suggest.
While you film, the app checks your framing on the phone itself. That check never leaves your device.
Technical data
- An install id: a random number the app creates and keeps in your phone's secure storage. We only store a scrambled (hashed) version of it, to make sure each device only gets its free analyses once.
- Your IP address with each analysis, to prevent abuse of the free analyses and guest accounts.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold by Apple or Google. We never see your card details. We receive your subscription status (which plan, whether it is active and when it renews or ends) through RevenueCat, the service we use to manage subscriptions.
What we do not collect
We do not use advertising, ad tracking or third-party analytics in the app, and this website sets no cookies. We do not record sound, read your contacts or use your location.
Why we use it
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Analysing your technique and showing your results and progress | Videos, pose data, key frames, results | Performing our agreement with you |
| Signing you in and keeping your analyses together | Email, account id | Performing our agreement with you |
| Giving you Pro when you subscribe | Subscription status | Performing our agreement with you |
| Limiting the free analyses and preventing abuse | Hashed install id, IP address | Our legitimate interest in keeping the service fair and available |
| Keeping accounting records | Subscription events | Legal obligation |
We do not use your videos to train AI models, and we do not use your data for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
How long we keep it
- Videos are deleted as soon as the analysis finishes, whether it succeeds or fails. A cleanup job removes any video older than 24 hours, so no video is kept longer than that.
- Key frames, pose data and results are kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete an analysis.
- IP addresses are kept with each analysis until that analysis or your account is deleted.
- The hashed install id is kept after you delete your account, without any link to you, so the free analyses cannot be claimed again.
- Subscription records are kept as long as accounting law requires.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of providers who process data only on our instructions:
- Supabase: accounts, database and private file storage, hosted in the EU.
- Our analysis server, hosted with a provider in the EU.
- An email delivery provider that sends your sign-in codes.
- RevenueCat: subscription status. RevenueCat is based in the United States; transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Apple and Google handle payments under their own privacy policies.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and may log IP addresses for security.
Your videos and key frames are stored in private storage and can only be opened through short-lived links made for your account.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, object to how we use it or ask us to limit it. Most of this you can do yourself in the app:
- Delete everything: Profile, then Delete account. See how account deletion works.
To delete a single analysis, or for anything else, email [email protected] from the address you signed in with. We answer within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) or the authority where you live.
Children
Shapewise is not meant for children under 13. If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian before you use it. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
